  • Objectives
    This four-year sandwich degree course focuses on financial services within a European framework, giving you the skills necessary for a career in international banking and finance. One semester is spent studying (in English) at the Fachhochschule, Frankfurt and you then spend a second semester with a financial services company in Frankfurt, gaining work experience. No pre-knowledge of German is expected (you study conversational German as part of the course). This is followed by a six-month work placement in the UK.

    You should have 180-220 points, including at least 160 from two or more A-levels. English Language and Mathematics GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent) are also required.These requirements may be varied in individual cases.

    Course structure

    You study eight modules at each of three levels.

    Level 1

        * Accounting for Business
        * An Introduction to IT for Financial Services
        * Quantitative Methods for Financial Services
        * Introduction to Financial Services
        * The Macroeconomic Environment
        * German

    Level 2

        * Business in Europe
        * Financial Analysis
        * Law of Financial Services
        * Management and Organisation in Financial Services

        * Computer-based Investment Analysis
        * German and European Banking
        * Monetary Economics and ECB Watching
        * Multinational Finance

    You then spend six months on a work placement (Frankfurt), and then a six month UK placement.
