  • Objectives
    The programme aims to provide training in technologies across the range of Informatics applied to Bioscience and Healthcare. Skills developed on the programmes range from the analysis of genotypes and gene expression data to advanced image processing techniques, advanced information management, clinical terminology, and healthcare records.
  • Entry requirements
    Entry requirements: The Masters programme is open to students with first or good second class honours degrees in Computer Science, Medicine, Nursing, Biology, Bioinformatics or other Life Science discipline or from a joint programme with at least 50% Computer Science or Life Science content, or any overseas equivalent. Other educational backgrounds e.g. a mathematical science with sufficient computing content will be considered. An honours degree in another subject together with sufficient relevant industrial/health experience is also acceptable. Applicants without a UK equivalent honours degree, but with sufficient relevant industrial and educational experience, will be considered for admission. Although the optional modules include some focussed on developing software programming skills, both these and the programme as a whole require that all students already possess a basic level of programming skill and practical experience.

    The MSc in BioHealth Informatics is a collaborative degree programme that brings together expertise from The School of Computer Science, School of Medicine and School of Biological Sciences. It addresses the strong industrial demand for graduates with expertise in both bio and health informatics.

    The programme is open to students from a range of backgrounds - Biology, Healthcare, Medicine or Computer Science - and looks to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary training tailored to the needs of each student. This course is open to those with a good honours degree with at least 50% Computer Science, or those with a degree in a Medical or Biological Science and sufficient computing experience. Other qualifications, or industrial/health service experience, will be considered.
