Objectives:
As the power and functionality of computer networks continue to develop ensuring the security of these systems is becoming amajor concern. This course builds upon a decade of experience in education for network design and support including a groundbreaking MSc in IT Security. The course retains the strong grounding in computing in general and networks in particular that has been a feature of the Computer Communications & Networks degree. In the Computer Network Security course, however, the addition of a number of new modules sharpens the focus on the security aspects of networks, covering the nature of threats to system integrity, how they arise and how they are countered. While examining these topics in their strategic context, this is essentially a course providing the theoretical and technical knowledge which gives the capability to engineer solutions.
Entry Requirements:
Entry Requirements Minimum of 12 units passed at average Grade C at GCE Advanced; at least 6 units must be in relevant subjects eg Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computing; or equivalent (contact Campus Admissions and Marketing Office for details).
