    What is the course about?

    Over the three days you will be shown how to make simple forms and start to understand how the process works. It will be explained how to manipulate the clay on the spinning wheel to create bowls and vases. For those with some experience there is the chance to develop ideas and refresh skills.

    What topics will we cover?

    The main focus of the course would be refining the techniques of throwing together with generating ideas for work on the wheel.

    By the end of this course you should be able to:

    -Have a level of skill and technique in the making process
    -Make simple forms with control
    -Understand the principles of throwing
    -Work confidently and develop ideas on the wheel

    What level is the course?

    The course is open to anyone interested in using the potters wheel.

    How will I be taught?

    Group and individual demonstrations supported by discussions and visual references

    Are there any other costs (e.g. certification, materials, equipment or books I need to buy)?

    Some tools are available for purchase from the department and there is a charge of ;1 per pound/500g for fired clay

    What feedback will I get?

    There will be an assessment of all of the work made during the 3 days at the end of the course You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

    Will I have a chance to give my views on the course?

    Yes, please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.

    When I've finished, what course can I do next?

    At the end of the course you will be given information about further courses available for those who wish to continue. These would be further adult education classes either day or evening.
