Objectives:
To provide students with an opportunity to develop their skills in facilitating learning for a range of health care practitioners in a practice and/or academic settings and to contribute to improving healthcare provision by promoting the concept of lifelong learning in all health care settings.

Entrance Requirements
Applicants for the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education should normally hold a primary degree and must be recognised health care professionals. Applicants should be engaged in either postgraduate or undergraduate education in medicine or another health care profession.
Additional Information for International Students
Must have taken and passed the General Medical Council PLAB assessment. This is recognised by the medical profession as equivalent to TOEFL.

Course Content
The following modules are completed in the sequence outlined below:
-Assessment of Learning
-Curriculum Development and Evaluation
-The Psychology of Learning
-Theory to practice.
Assessment
Candidates are expected to complete a reflective portfolio for each module.
Special Features
This course runs in collaboration with the Irish College of General Practitioners and is offered only by distance learning. Self-directed learning activities are supported by workshops, students must attend four one-day workshops in Dublin throughout the academic year.
