  • Course description
    The MSc in Child Health is a flexible programme which is designed to enhance and develop the specialist knowledge of those working in the field of Child Health. The programme has been developed in collaboration with a team of local paediatricians and child health experts, in response to local need. If you are interested in postgraduate study and are an experienced medical, health or social care professional working in the field of child health, then this may be the programme for you.

    The programme is flexible and programmes of study are tailored to student need. Modules can be studied alone, as part of a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or an MSc, depending on student requirements. Specialist elements such as assessment, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of children and young people; safeguarding children and young people; and child and adolescent development, complement the compulsory research based elements and the optional choices such as leadership, risk management, health and medical education and numerous others.

    The MSc in Child Health can be studied part time, or full time and is offered on a modular basis to fit in with your existing work commitments. You could study for a MSc in Child Health; a Postgraduate Diploma in Child Health; or a Postgraduate Certificate in Child Health or Safeguarding Children, depending on how many modules you choose to study. You can also study any module on a stand alone basis or as part of another programme of study.

    Teaching methods

    The programme will be taught by experienced academics from the School of Postgraduate Medicine, associated clinical fellows and paediatric and child health experts and will be aligned to your own needs and current educational provision in your workplace. A variety of teaching methods will be used including coursework (posters, presentations, essays), lectures, seminars and e-learning.
