  Entry requirements Applicants may already hold a Level 3 Certificate in Management, or have undertaken some management development at work. The programme is designed for practising managers, able to apply learning and to evidence competence in their current or recent employment. Anyone unsure about the suitability of the course for their individual learning and development needs is invited to discuss their situation with the Course Tutor before finalising their application.

  General information
  
  The Diploma in Management and Leadership is a one year part time programme for practising managers. This programme is designed to meet the needs of middle managers wishing to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to develop their career by developing core management skills.  
  
  Course content
  
  The programme concentrates on the practical application of management theory and principles in the context of the developing middle manager, thus providing a foundation for continuing professional and personal development in management. The qualification consists of core units and optional units:
  
  Group A - Core:
  
      * Unit 5001 Personal development as a manager and leader
      * Unit 5002 Information based decision making
      * Unit 5004 Resource management
      * Unit 5005 Meeting stakeholder and quality needs
      * Unit 5006 Conducting a management project
  
  Group B
  
      * Unit 5003 Performance management
      * Unit 5012 Being a leader
  
  Group C
  
      * Unit 5007 Financial control
      * Unit 5008 Marketing planning
      * Unit 5009 Project development and control
      * Unit 5010 Human resource management
      * Unit 5011 Managing recruitment and selection
      * Unit 5013 Leadership practice
  
   (Optional units are selected by the Programme Director from Groups B and C)

  Projects and assignments are undertaken to achieve the Diploma
  
  Progression
  
  Candidates could progress to the CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership course.
