    Who is this course for? Young people aged 16-18. What do I need to get on the course? You must satisfy the general entry criteria for A-level courses which are based on your GCSE results general entry requirements for AS-levels In addition, to do this course you need GCSE grades C in English Language and Maths, and BB in GCSE double science or a B in GCSE Chemistry.

    AS-Level Chemistry Salters (OCR) after the first year of study, A-Level Chemistry after the second year.
  • Course description
    What is this course about?
    You will gain an insight into the many ways chemistry is used and the work that chemists do. This will involve looking into new and exciting developments; such as the replacement of petrol with hydrogen to fuel cars and the production of new medicines.

    What will I study?
    All the AS courses have undergone a thorough national review. From September 2008 in the new AS chemistry course you will study the principles and applications of chemistry through experiments, discussions and problem solving activities. The AS-level is assessed by two written papers, and experimental coursework. The A2-level is assessed by two written papers and extended experimental coursework.

    What can I do after the course?
    Close to 80% of our A-level students progress to Higher Education. Alternatively, you could choose to enter employment.
