  • Entry requirements
    You should be either a native English speaker or have English skills at a standard comparable to at least GCSE Level. You must already have computing and mathematics skills to level 2 (An ITQ L2 or BTEC First Diploma). All applicants will take a language and numeracy assessment and will be interviewed. You may also be required to take a short IT test to make sure that you have the necessary IT skills to benefit from this advanced course.

    Duration of Course:
    One year.

    Where does it lead?
    The ITQ 3 is a level 3 vocational qualification which prepares you for employment in a role which uses IT.  Students can progress from this course directly into Employment or some students may progress onto Higher Education courses such as an HND or Foundation Degree.  You may also obtain additional qualifications in English and Maths, which will enhance your career options.
    All units have been allocated a Unit Value (UV) and completion of Level 3 requires 180 UVs.

    What does it include?
    This is a practical course and is divided into units. You will study the following core unit:
    >Make selective use of IT (explaining uses of IT, finding and evaluation information)

    You will also select optional units from:
    -Word-processing software (Using Microsoft Word)
    -Spreadsheet software (Using Microsoft Excel)
    -Database software (Using Microsoft Access)
    -Website software (Using HTML)
    -IT maintenance (Hardware & Software Installation & Troubleshooting)
    -IT Security (Understanding legislations and security methods)

    Assessment is by practical assignments and work placement for 3 months (1-2-days per week in addition to normal classes).
     
    You may also take classes and exams in:
    -Written English Communication Skills (Adult Literacy)
    -Numeracy/Maths
    -Build a portfolio of tasks for assessment including those performed on work placements.
    You will have a personal tutor who will provide help with personal development and careers advice and your individual learning programme.
