• Course description
  General information
  
  This course is ideal for special education needs assistants, learning support assistants and teaching assistants whoa re employed in schools or who have worked on a voluntary basis for a minimum of one year in a classroom environment.
  
  Course content
  
  There are 6 mandatory units. Students will complete written assignments for each unit and collect evidence from their placement setting to form an extensive portfolio.
  
  Teaching and assessment
  
  Internally assessed portfolio and an externally set and assessed assignment.
  
  Progression
  
  This course provides a progression route for candidates who have completed an appropriate Level 2 qualification that consolidates and enhances their knowledge and skills in working effectively with children and young people under the age of 16, in education settings, to support their learning, achievement and inclusion.
