    Who is this course for? The International Foundation Course is for international students whose high school qualifications are not recognised for direct entry to undergraduate programmes, specifically students that want to progress onto a full degree programme at City University London. What do I need to get on the course? # To be eligible to apply for the International Foundation Course: You should have achieved satisfactory high school marks # Your English language qualification should be equivalent to IELTS 5.5 for the Foundation Programme leading to a degree programme in Actuarial Science or Business and Management and IELTS 5.0 for all other degree programmes. If you do not have access to IELTS, City University London may administer its own language test locally, subject to certain conditions.

    What is this course about?
    The International Foundation Course is awarded by City University London and taught at City and Islington College. It combines academic study and English language preparation. Successful completion of the International Foundation Course will guarantee you entry to a degree programme in Actuarial Science, Business and Management, Economics, Engineering (excluding Civil Engineering), Informatics and Mathematics at City University London.

    What will I study?
    In the first semester you will take compulsory core modules: English Language and Communication; Academic Study and Research skills; Information and Communications Technology; and, Mathematics.
    In the second semester you will continue with the first two subjects, and will also take two subject-specific elective modules which are relevant to your chosen area of study. These are: Economics; Science Technology and Applications (1); Quantitative Methods for Business; and Mathematics for Engineers.
    Assessment is through a combination of coursework and exams.
