    General information

    This course is intended for students who do not pass the entrance test for the Diploma Level 1 Carpentry and would like to improve their skills to enable them to go on to this course.

    Course content

    Induction includes:

        * Basic health and safety training
        * Time planning and preparation for college
        * Advice on building a portfolio of their work
        * Ed-Excel Entry Level Skills for Working Life – Practical Skills
        * Health and Safety
        * Preparing for work
        * Introduction to brickwork or Introduction to joinery
        * Basic skills
        * Interview skills
        * Improving your learning

    Teaching and assessment

    Students will work towards the above units through completing assignments, classroom activities and practical tasks. The work will have a construction related content. Their work will be presented in the form of a portfolio.
