  • Objectives
    Operating department practitioners (ODPs) are part of the operating theatre team. They provide skilled assistance to surgeons and anaesthetists in carrying out intricate and complex procedures and work alongside their nursing colleagues in providing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. The ODP's principle role is to provide care for the patient at all stages of the surgical process. There are three interconnected aspects of care - the anaesthetic role, the surgical role and the post anaesthetic role.
  • Entry requirements
    Entry Requirements Two A levels at grade DD or the equivalent. Alternative qualifications will be considered. It is important that you demonstrate an appreciation of the role and work of the ODP and have experience of working in a health care setting.
