  This course is designed in particular for professionals in the areas of emergency planning, risk assessment, community development, humanitarian aid, capacity building and associated professions wishing to enhance their professional qualifications and wishing to gain an improved understanding of contemporary issues in disaster management, and the evolving risk landscape. The course is designed to accommodate the ongoing professional commitments of practitioners and to equip them with the research skills, knowledge and management expertise to deal with future crises, emergencies and disasters in the developed and developing world
  
  Course content
  
  The course runs full time over one year, or part time up to 3 years, and comprises 5 core modules, 5 additional modules and a dissertation. A Post Graduate diploma may be awarded where a dissertation is not completed and a Post graduate certificate where only the 5 core modules are completed. Normal entrance requirements are a minimum of a second class bachelor's degree. In some circumstances appropriate prior learning and professional experience may be substituted.
