    To offer knowledge and expertise for the development of professional careers concerned with the development and implementation of equality legislation and practices, especially in government departments and public-sector agencies. With appropriate research training, it provides the basis for proceeding to a PhD or other research.

    Entry Requirements:
    A good first degree or a recognised equivalent qualification. Non-graduates will be considered if they can demonstrate, through some recent and relevant professional experience, that they have the ability to undertake the course.

    This course is particularly suitable for professionals (especially in the public sector) and others who wish to develop an advanced level expertise in the application of research-based policies for equality and diversity.

    Where English is not a first language, or for those who have not had a substantial part of their education taught in the English language, a score of 575 on TOEFL or band 6.5 on IELTS is required.

    The programme comprises two foundation modules, three core modules, and one further optional module.

    Principles and Practice of Research Design
    Contemporary Social Theory

    Core modules:

    Contemporary Developments in Equality Theory and Practice
    Mainstreaming Equality
    Inclusive Governance
    After successful completion of the taught element, students undertake a 20,000 word dissertation.
