Entry Requirements:
Five GCSE's at grade C or above including English, Maths and Science. BTEC First Diploma at merit level with Maths or English. Alternative qualifications in Caring if of an equivalent level to the above.
Course Description:
The BTEC National Diploma is a practical, work related course. The course consists of 18 units. It is suitable for anyone wishing to progress into social care career.

Students wishing to pursue a career in this area need to achieve good standards of Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. For this reason, if you are under 19 years of age when you begin your course, you will be required to study these essential subjects.
What next?
-The full award is equivalent to three A Levels. Progression possibilities to Higher Education include: Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care at the Grimsby Institute, Social work courses in the Higher Education Institution.
-Additional qualifications may be required for entry to some of these areas.
-The qualification is also an entry point to a variety of jobs in Caring Sector.
How is the course assessed?
-All units are assessed by means of assignments, projects and presentations, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
-Tutorial support is an integral part of all Health and Social Care courses and a planned programme of individual and group tutorials are offered.
