    This programme exploits the University's exceptional concentration of research expertise in the history of the North West of England as a region from the Middle Ages right up to the twentieth century.

    Module details

    The core course focuses on the particular archival, map-based and palaeographic skills needed to pursue regional history successfully. The optional course units, of which all candidates need to take three, include: Landscape History of the North West in the Middle Ages; Town and Country in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries; Provincial Towns in the Region in the Long Eighteenth Century; Victorian Manchester and the Archaeology of the Industrial Revolution in the North West.
