  • Objectives
This programme offers the skills and training necessary to become a successful entrepreneur and start a technology business. The key to this programme is the way in which students are encouraged to blend skills in engineering, science and technology with enterprising and commercial acumen. Three modules will be selected from a range of modules offered on Master’s programmes in the University and will be the ones most appropriate to underpin the scientific part of the project. The enterprise modules will be taken to aid the process of taking the conception of an idea through to a marketable product or service. The programme focuses on an Enterprise Project, which is an exercise in starting your own business, combining scientific research with prototyping and commercial work performed in the Salford Enterprise Laboratory located in the new Business Creation Unit. This core Enterprise Project will run for the duration of the programme resulting in a prototype high technology product or service with an identified customer base and plan outlining the routes to market. Many of our Enterprise students design specific products using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and in order to further promote their many and varied innovative products they are able to produce composite prototypes using our state-of-the-art in-house 3-Dimensional printers. Thus they are able to produce, for potential clients, a full business plan and a tangible product.
