    Content

    This programme consists of a core course taught by a range of tutors, specialist courses taught by individual tutors and a dissertation involving supervised independent study. Specialist courses may include:

        * Strange Gods: fin-de-si?cle fiction
        * African-American literature from the Harlem renaissance to the present day
        * Writing the disaster
        * Modernist sexualities
        * African modernities: a case study of colonial and postcolonial Nigeria
        * Body spaces: poetry, poetics and experimentalism in post-war America
        * Irish literature since the 1950s
        * American war writing
        * Queer fictions
        * OULIPO (Ouvroir de littŽrature potentielle)
        * Proust in theory.

    Tutors will supervise dissertation topics in all areas of 20th century and contemporary writing, critical and cultural theory, postcolonialism and Irish studies.
