    Four compulsory modules covering:

    -Oral histopathology
    -Techniques in histopathology and
    -An oral histopathology dissertation.

    Other modules include:

    -Research methods in laboratory and clinical subjects
    -Information management
    -Advanced oral histopathology
    -Research problems and approaches in oral pathology
    -Laboratory statistics.

    Teaching
    -Induction period
    -Observational work shadowing
    -Supervised reporting
    -Staff-led seminars
    -Student-led seminars
    -Practical laboratory techniques
    -Lectures
    -Literature review
    -Dissertation
    -Independent directed self study

    Assessment
    Formative assessment after four weeks: short MCQ paper, short essay question, practical diagnostic test and oral examination.

    Summative assessment at the end of modules: short answer questions, essay questions, practical tests to determine level of skill achieved. Dissertation and oral examination at end of course.
