Objectives
Students develop skills in biodiversity surveying and GIS, and gain the research expertise to analyse and report on their findings. The course emphasises practical taxonomic identification and field sign skills that can be directly applied in the field of ecological consultancy.

Entry requirements
Entry requirements MSc or MRes: you would normally be expected to hold a 2.1 UK honours degree or equivalent in Biological Science. PG Dip or PG Cert: a 2.2 (minimum) UK honours degree or equivalent in Biological Science. Applicants without these qualifications suitable experience will be considered on an individual basis.

Course description
How do you study?
Specialist researchers and staff teach current industry techniques and research skills, supplemented by practical sessions and lectures from some of the most experienced consultants in the country.
The design of the course enables students to access modules for continuing professional development. Students are supported throughout their studies by our excellent teaching staff, with email tutorial contact and access to a virtual learning environment.
Industry work placements supplement the experience gained during the taught elements of the course.
Assessment
Achievement is assessed through written assignments, a dissertation and formal examinations. MSc and MRes degree students will complete an individual research project.
