This postgraduate course combines manufacturing, mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering, computer science and technology, management, and emerging technologies such as advanced Web/Internet techniques and sustainable technology. The course offers opportunities to develop professional engineering skills and to acquire in depth knowledge of advanced technologies in product design and development using modern tools and techniques within an engineering environment.

    1. Six taught modules, 20 credits each:

    -Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technologies
    -Advanced CAE and Internet Technology
    -Engineering Management
    -Research Methods
    -Robotics and Mechatronics with Artifical Intelligence
    -Integrated Project (group project, including design, make and test).

    2. Individual major study project, 60 credits

    There will be 45 teaching weeks in total for this course, of which 30 weeks are for the taught modules and 15 weeks for the individual major project. For Postgraduate Certificate, you will study 60 credits; for the postgraduate diploma, you will study 120 credits; for MSc, you must successfully complete the taught modules of 120 credits and then undertake an individual major project of 60 credits.

    The individual major project will develop your independent research, innovation and implementation skills, and industrially linked projects are strongly encouraged and supported. The project may be pursued either at this university, or at partner organisations in the UK or overseas.

    Taught modules are assessed by written assignments, oral presentations and/or examinations. The individual major project module involves the design, implementation and reporting of a major research task by thesis.
