Objectives:
System administrators need to have the highest ethical standards and an ability to adapt new technologies to the purpose of the system. System administration has traditionally been learnt without any systematic training. This is slowly changing, but many of the courses available are mainly product specific certifications offered by companies with a slant towards their specific products. The aim of this postgraduate course is to teach the principles and practice of systems administration and management, including: -System and network design -Analysis -Specification -Efficiency and security in an ‘open systems’ environment
Entry Requirements:
If you are a graduate or other suitably qualified professional who has worked as a network installation engineer or has experience of networks and their design, installation and maintenance then you may well be in a position to advance you career by moving up the management scale to become a professional who can take company strategic plans and build network systems to support them.

MSc Computer Network Administration And Management
Course Description:
You will study eight units on this course plus an individual project. Currently, the units are:

-Data network principles
-Communications security
-IP Communications
-Client server network architecture
-Network configuration
-Ethics in computer technology
-System administration
-Project preparation

The course concludes with a four-month individual project in which you apply your knowledge to a significant in-depth piece of analysis or design. Your projects will be tailored to your individual interests and may take place in our own laboratories or, by agreement, in industry.
