    This programme will equip you with advanced software development skills. It is an intensive, practically-oriented taught postgraduate programme, intended for students with good undergraduate degrees in subjects other than computing science. Specifically, this programme aims to: * enable you to benefit from leading-edge research-led teaching * enable you to apply independent research skills and knowledge in project work * prepare you for academic or industrial research careers.

    Entry requirements A degree in a subject other than computing science: either a cognate subject such as mathematics, physics or engineering (minimum 2.2 Honours degree or equivalent, eg GPA 3.0/4) or a degree in a non-cognate subject (minimum 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent, eg GPA 3.2/4).

    Options: three courses chosen from:

        * Internet technology
        * Multimedia systems
        * Security and cryptography
        * Project management.

    Project: MSc students additionally undertake a substantial application project, based on a problem statement developed during the earlier project proposal course.

    Specialisms: By appropriate choice of electives and project you can specialise in any of the following areas of information technology:

        * Humanities informatics
        * Project management
        * Software development
