    Some modules are radiotherapy specific while others are more general health care options. This allows you to tailor the course to your own career development needs.

    You can carry out independent study modules. This may involve studying a topic or project not covered by our taught programme but is related to your practice.

    You could also gain academic credit for work-based learning. For this you are responsible for setting learning objectives centred around your workplace and how they will be achieved.

    You may be eligible to apply for accreditation of work-based projects and prior certificated learning, which will count towards your final award.

    You can take the course either by distance learning or part-time taught.

    Course content

    There are several core modules for each named award. These are followed by optional modules. If you take the MSc you must also take a module on research methodology, followed by a dissertation or research project.

    Postgraduate Certificate in the Psychological Aspects of Care in Radiotherapy (available part-time only)
    • counselling skills in cancer care (15 credits) • psychology of cancer care (30 credits) • professional development skills (15 credits)

    Postgraduate Diploma in Radiotherapy and Oncology
    • research methods for practice (15 credits) • professional practice portfolio (15 credits)

    plus optional modules worth 30 credits

    To progress from the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Aspects of Care in Radiotherapy to the Postgraduate Diploma in Radiotherapy and Oncology you must also study contemporary issues in radiotherapy and oncology (15 credits) as core and option modules worth 15 credits.
