    Course Description:

    The Offshore and Ocean Technology with Offshore Materials Engineering MSc course develops professional engineers with specialist knowledge of the selection, behaviour and maintenance of a wide variety of complex materials used offshore. This knowledge is crucial to the success of the industry, particularly with the growth in novel materials for the renewable energy sector. Our graduates can expect to be in demand globally as specialist structural and materials engineers, in oil and gas, and renewable energy applications.

    Entry Requirements:

    A first or second class UK Honours degree (or equivalent) ideally in a related subject. Other recognised professional qualifications or several years relevant industrial experience may be accepted as equivalent; subject to approval by the Course Director.     Overview:

    This course offers specialist knowledge in the selection, behaviour and maintenance of a wide variety of complex materials used offshore, crucial to the success of the industry, particularly with the growth in novel materials for the renewable energy sector.

    Who is it for?:

    The MSc course comprises eight one-week assessed modules, a group project, and an individual thesis project. As such, the course structure aims to guide students from traditional learning through to becoming independent researchers, capable of managing their own projects.

    Students undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) complete the eight modules and the group project. Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) students are required to complete six of the eight modules.

    Our graduates can expect to be in demand globally as specialist structural and materials engineers, in oil and gas, and renewable energy applications.
