  • Objectives
    This award is the result of collaboration between Rapra Technology and the Department of Engineering and Technology at the University This is a unique opportunity that allows design engineers, managers and technologists in industry to obtain a formal and relevant qualification in polymer engineering The award has been designed to support people working in industry or a relevant service sector associated with plastic elastomer products The PGCert in Polymer Engineering is based on a series of intensive short courses, delivered by Rapra Technology, and the University of Wolverhampton You choose a series of modules (short courses) which are relevant to your working environment and attend on dates that are convenient to you, followed by supported study and assessment carried out over a period of time at your convenience You will be taught at Rapra Technology, Shawbury, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire using their excellent short course teaching facilities You will also be taught and receive additional support at the University of Wolverhampton's Telford Campus, where you will have access to highly-advanced facilities including vacuum casting, co-ordinate measurement, rapid manufacturing and Zwick-Roell equipment Resources available include: materials testing, injection moulding, composites manufacture, rapid prototyping, vacuum casting, co-ordinate measurement, CNC machining and computer-aided design and simulation Rapra Technology will charge its own fees for the short course delivery at the rate pertaining at date of admission. This will be separate to the University fees
  • Entry requirements
    Normally, you should have a good Honours degree or equivalent. However, substantial professional experience can substitute for graduate status We look for graduates with an appropriate Honours degree in engineering, technology or a science related subject You should also have a good standard of written and spoken English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) If you are currently employed we request a statement of support from your employer

    -Polymer Processing Technology - includes one of: Plastics Injection Mould Design; Plastics Injection Moulding Technology; Exploring Plastics Extrusion; Co-Extrusion & Multi-layer Structures; Understanding Thermoplastic Elastomers
