Students should hold a degree level qualification and have a strong motivation to enter into the workplace as a broadcast journalist or technical operator.
Course Description:
This course has been specifically designed to meet with the needs of today's broadcast journalism industry. You can train as a technical operator or broadcast journalist, depending on the career path you wish to follow. The course aims to give students the practical skills, experience and resilience needed to get a job in industry, something
that over 70% of our graduates achieve.
Our students gain real broadcast credits thanks to our partnerships with Propeller TV, which broadcasts on Sky, and Channel 7, a local television station which broadcasts on Virgin Media and the Internet.
What you learn
Throughout the course students learn as if in a real work environment. You will originate, co-ordinate and produce material from the initial treatment through to the final edit and are expected to produce work to high broadcast standards and meet weekly programming deadlines.
The course is taught by industry professionals, and students use industry standard equipment. If you join us, you?ll make programmes in our two television studios and will also have use of our media vans to get stories on location.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through evidence collected by the candidates. This could be scripts, research material and final edited pieces.
You will be assessed by broadcast professionals, as this is a post graduate qualification you will also be expected to reflect on the quality of your work and your ability to work in the industry.
There are no examinations.
