  • Course description

Make a statement with your own hand printed t-shirts, vest-tops, beach shorts, sarongs or even bags and stand out from the crowd this summer – simple and fun to do!

This exciting new course will teach you the fundamental principles of printing and dyeing. You will also learn about basic colour theory to help you combine colours and turn your favourite images into eye catching graphic designs. With expert guidance from your tutor, you will coordinate your patterns across various garments in your collection, linking colour, styles and textures.

During the 10-week course, you will have the opportunity to explore various printing techniques including screenprinting, monoprinting, lino block printing and resist dyes.

All the techniques covered in this course can be continued at home with minimal equipment so you will be able to continue with the development of your styles and skills. Whilst you can purchase a small variety of different base fabrics from your course tutor, you will need to also bring in your own garments having assessed the suitability of the medium being explored.

This course is a perfect complement to the ‘Fabric & Surface Printing’ course.

    What you need to bring

A small piece of lino, calico, A2 and A3 cartridge paper, craft knife, a note book and pen. The tutor will be able to give details as to where to purchase further materials.
