  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Students should normally have a good portfolio, plus one of the following: * 240 points, to include two GCE/VCE A Levels with grade C in one art or design subject * National Diploma merit profile in a relevant subject * Successful completion of an Art and Design Foundation Course * Applications from mature students (21+) with alternative qualifications and/or work experience are welcomed.

    Programme

    This is an exciting and demanding course which blends industrial and engineering design. Students gain a detailed understanding of the principles of design and apply this, through project work, to meet commercial, technological, manufacturing and human requirements. Study and application of the latest Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Rapid Prototyping techniques form a major element of the course. This course is accredited by IED (Institute of Engineering Designers) and graduates gain IEng (Incorporated Engineer) status. Students spend their third year gaining professional experience via a paid supervised work placement. Opportunities range from small local design consultancies or major companies like Dyson, through to overseas placements with multinational corporations such as BMW or Mercedes-Benz in Germany.
