Building Studies, HND-HNC

  • Objectives This programme is designed to provide students with a high level of understanding of the design, function, construction and statutory requirements for buildings of all classes, and to prepare them for more advanced employment within the construction industry.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in construction or civil engineering, AVCE (AGNVQ) in construction and the built environment, or one or more relevant HNC or A-level passes. Equivalent qualifications and/or work experience for mature candidates will be considered
  • Academic title Building Studies, HND/HNC
  • Course description The programme consists of a combination of core courses and optional courses which provide appropriate training in each case for technicians employed in architecture, building surveying, building control, building management or quantity surveying. The courses have been designed to include a significant practical element. Enrolment for the programme entitles students to become student members of the Chartered Institute of Building.

    It is also recognised nationally and internationally by employers within the construction industry and may give access to a wide range of employment options such as architecture, construction, estate management and surveying.
