Computer Networking with Server Administration, BSc Hons

  • Objectives This programme is aimed at providing the necessary skills to individuals who wish to pursue a career in network and server administration. Students taking this programme study the basics of computer networking and programming and specialise in setup, administration and troubleshooting of Windows™ and Linux server systems and work with live Cisco networking hardware such as routers and switches using our Netlab server
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Standard university entry requirements apply 180 UCAS points, ideally including a computing / IT subject, from A-level or National Diploma (MMP) in engineering, or equivalent qualification; 3 GCSEs at grade C or above (including English, mathematics and science) or equivalent

  • Course description All forward-looking businesses today rely on networked computer systems to manage various aspects of the business. At the core of these systems are servers that require installation and regular maintenance. Businesses require individuals who can administer and maintain these systems and the associated applications that relate to a company’s individual business objectives.

    Within the programme we also help you to develop non-technical transferable skills such as innovation, communication and the ability to cope with rapid changes in technology. Additionally, there are core courses in management and professional practice.

    Students can opt for a year in industry between their second and final year. Students taking this programme also have the opportunity to study for CCNA and CCNP qualifications.
