  • Course description General information

    This course will give you practical, work-related training that focuses on ICT in the business environment and covers e-commerce and business applications as well as the use of IT subjects. A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* - C and is normally taken as a full-time course.

    Course content

    You will study 6 units:

    2 Core units:

        * Introduction to Computer Systems
        * Uses of IT.

    4 Specialist units:

        * Information Systems
        * Introduction to Databases
        * Website Development
        * Business Applications - this unit contributes towards the externally assessed Integrated Vocational Assignment.

    Teaching and assessment

    An overall grade is awarded for the qualification. Each of the six units are assessed individually by college staff with Introduction to Databases being externally assessed.

    Progression

    This qualification can lead to employment or progression on to a higher level course like a National Diploma.
