  • Course description General information

    This course is intended to provide students with the basic skills and knowledge to enable then to work as an operative in construction industry.  Students will learn through a variety of methods including:  classroom lecturers, written assignments and practical tasks.

    Course content

    To achieve this award students must complete 6 units of competence which include:

        * 198 - Handle and store resources
        * 199 - Contribute to working platforms
        * 200 - Contribute to providing working platforms
        * 201 - Preparation and use of portable power tools
        * 202 - Maintenance and use of woodworking hand tools
        * 203 - Use basic wood jointing techniques

    Teaching and assessment

    Through observation of practical of practicle tasks in the workshop and a short written test at the end of each unit. External tests from City & Guilds throughout the course.
