Course - NVQ 2 Youth Work

  • Entry requirements Applicants must have experience of youth work and be in paid or voluntary work in a youth work setting. Applicants must be over 18 years of age. There are no formal entry requirements, however all applicants will be required to complete the College’s Initial Assessment. You need to demonstrate literacy skills at E3 or Level 1. You must be able to make yourself understood when speaking English.

  • Course description Duration of course:
    This is a one-year part time course. Students are required to attend college for 1 evening per week and are expected to be in paid or voluntary work within a youth work setting.

    Where does it lead?
    This qualification is a route to employment. It can also lead to a vocationally related level 3 award.

    What does it include?
    It is a vocationally relevant qualification. The curriculum is based on National Occupational Standards for Youth Work. There are six units, all of which are mandatory.

    The units are:
    -Engaging young people in relationships and conversations
    -Young people as citizens
    -Encouraging young people to reflect on issues and their identities
    -Understanding and reflecting on practice and learning
    -Equality, diversity and participation
    -Promoting safety and well being in youth work
