    What does the course include?
    This is a 12 unit programme. Some of the units you will cover are:
    - Investigating Health and Social Care Services
    - Understanding Health and Wellbeing
    - Understanding Personal Growth and Relationships
    - Investigating Common Hazards and Health Emergencies
    - Working as part of a Team.

    In addition the course contains:
    - Key Skills in Numeracy
    - Literacy
    - Tutorials
    - Career Advice

    What do you need get on the course?
    This course is for 16-18 year olds who wish to obtain a Level 1 qualification in Health and Social Care.
    You will be interviewed to see if you have an interest in Health and Social Care, a good reference from school, connexions or employment, and you will have to take a college literacy test.

    How is the course assessed?

    You will have to produce a portfolio for the 12 vocational units consisting of written and graphical evidence and witness statements. The Key Skills in numeracy is assessed through coursework and an exam. Literacy will be assessed by an exam.

    Where does it lead?
    You can progress onto Level 2 and/or Level 3 and Access courses with progression to University. Or you can follow the employment pathway with either progressing onto an NVQ, Work based training or Occupational/skills courses leading to employment.
