  • Objectives This professional course is compulsory to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales. It combines the study of law with practical training in legal research, interviewing and advising, writing, drafting, and advocacy.

    Semester one:

    -Business Law and Practice
    -Property Law and Practice
    -Litigation and Practice
    -Investment Business and Accounts
    -EC Law, Tax and Human Rights
    -Probate and Administration
    -skills: interviewing, advising, drafting, writing, practical legal research, advocacy.

    Semester Two:

    -Solicitors’ Accounts

    three electives chosen from:

    -Corporate Finance
    -Commercial Law
    -Commercial Property
    -Family Law
    -Employment Law
    -Advanced Personal Injury Litigation
    -Advanced Criminal Litigation
    -Advanced Commercial Litigation
    -Acquisition and Mergers
    -Private Client

    Teaching
    In semester one each group lecture is to be followed by one 2 hour workshop, averaging 17 hours per week. In semester two teaching is by small group workshops.

    Assessment
    Examinations in each of the compulsory areas and electives. Assessments in accounts, skills and professional conduct
