DMedSci Professional Health Care Practice

  • Objectives To provide a structured programme incorporating taught modules with a thesis designed for professional practice, serving a range of communities; clinical, education and management. To encourage knowledge transfer through the acquisition of research skills and leadership, actively promoting communities of research in meeting the health care agenda and associated directives. To help students make a significant contribution to health care through research-led, evidence-based initiatives, shaping and leading the profession and professional practice through the creation of new knowledge.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Good first or second degree or equivalent. Applicants with other qualifications or relevant experience are encouraged to contact Dr Mark Hayter (see 'Contact' below). We encourage entrants with non-standard qualifications and will consider each application in the light of its merit and the requirements of the profession. A relevant professional qualification is preferred but not essential. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to take a suitable test, such as IELTS, minimum score 6.5; TOEFL, minimum score 575, plus a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English, or minimum 232 in the computer-based TOEFL.

    -Advancing and developing practice (1 and 2)
    -Evaluation and outcomes research
    -Understanding and applying data

    Non-taught component:

    -Dissertation

    Assessment
    Written assignments (Certificate or Diploma), a research or evidence-based study (Masters)
