    Taught modules are normally completed by full-time study in 9 months, with the Diploma fully completed over a minimum of 12 months. The MSc can be completed within 15 months. Part time study is an alternative route for this course.

    Overview

    The course is aimed at prospective students with an interest in housing but it does not provide the professional placement experience of the Diploma/MSc in Housing (Professional Practice). Learning is assessed by essays, reports, project and group work, with only one examination. Students eligible for the Diploma may progress to the Masters subject to good performance.  The course is fully accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing.

    The course provides:

        * a comprehensive examination and analysis of the key functions delivered by a range of providers in the public, independent and private sectors
        * an understanding of professional ethics, policy and practice relating to housing management, development, finance, legislation, organisational and strategic management, research methods and evaluation.

    Students' skills of analysis and specialist knowledge are further developed through a 5,000 word Diploma Professional Report or 12,500 – 15,000 word MSc Dissertation on research into a contemporary housing issue. These reports are completed following the taught modules of the course.
