Información

Liverpool John Moores University is a thriving, vibrant university located at the heart of one of the most exciting cities in the UK.  Our three large campuses ensure that no matter where you go in Liverpool, you are never far away from an LJMU building.

LJMU is proud to be a modern university, with learning and the advancement of our students at the heart of all our activity.  Our ethos is dream, plan, achieve and we aim to nurture the dreams of every single student.  Our approach is holistic in nature - we provide stimulating and challenging programmes of study that are informed by scholarship and research, and that engender a spirit of academic enquiry; and we also provide an environment conducive to the personal development of our students - for example, through our Foundation for Citizenship we encourage students to become thoughtful, ethical people.  We understand the importance of real-world experience and help students to gain practical experience through work placements.  We also are aware that university isn't all about working and studying so we encourge students to socialise with their peers in a variety of ways - for example, in conjunction with Liverpool Students' Union we provide an wide range of sporting and recreational opportunities for our students and staff

"Providing people for people" is the guiding philosophy that drives all the activities of the Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences - from teaching and learning to research, enterprise and community-based initiatives.

The Faculty has more than 3,000 full and part-time students together with 200 academic and support staff based in its three schools - Applied Social and Community Studies, Nursing and Primary Care Practice, and the Centre for Public Health.

We offer students excellent education and professional training facilities for courses of study that ensure they have the right skills and experience to become effective practitioners in this challenging sector. Our course portfolio includes certificates, diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Our certificates in professional development are specifically designed to balance academic content with practical experience, and are geared towards securing motivating and rewarding employment. We are also expert in developing and delivering continuing professional development programmes that help practitioners maintain and advance their skills throughout their careers.

Our teaching environment is stimulating and challenging as well as caring and supportive to individual needs. Our courses fully prepare students for their working lives by combining theory with hands-on experience gained via specialist training and placements. University facilities include well-equipped lecture rooms, IT suites and learning resource centres plus specialist on-site facilities for learning clinical skills.

In addition to the strong tradition of providing a variety of programmes and employment for nurses, midwives, social workers, youth and community workers and public health practitioners, graduates often embark on careers in the voluntary sector, the police, the prison service, the probation sector, social welfare and nursery work.
