Entry requirementsThis programme of study is suitable for any qualified healthcare practitioner wanting to develop their practice to an advanced level through work-based, project-led learning. Those who have previously taken this course come from a variety of healthcare disciplines including nursing, mental health, learning disabilities, social work and medicine. The course has a flexible design, enabling you to develop a course profile around your workplace issues and interests. A particular feature of this course is the flexibility awarded by the use of learning contracts and directed study. These enable you to study diverse routes through the programme, whilst retaining the focus on advanced practice. Part of this flexibility arises from the creative use of optional credits, so that students can choose to incorporate option units particularly pertinent to workplace projects. Alternatively, students can utilise previous learning, or learning outside the programme, within the course structure. This course will suit practitioners interested in practice development, and wishing to develop their own practice further. Course descriptionThe programme consists of 105 core and 75 optional credits, totalling 180 credits for the award of Masters degree. Some units are shared with students from other SHSSW masters courses, enabling flexible and student centred learning, maximising interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
