- You will be expected to have a good Honours degree with a social science element - Graduates from other disciplines (e.g. humanities subjects) may still be eligible for entry - You should also have a good standard of written and spoken English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent)

Program Summary:
* The MA Humanities/Social Sciences award provides a general framework within which students can pursue specialist pathways of study in History, Film, English, Voluntary and Public Sectors: Policy and Practice, or in this case, Conflict Studies
* By agreement with your course tutor, it is possible to study a combination of modules from other pathway routes
* Conflict Studies explores conflicts and the issues surrounding them in an atmosphere that encourages open discussion and debate around competing explanations and interpretations of key conflicts, both historical and contemporary
* The multi-disciplinary approach, rooted in history and politics, allows students to focus on specific conflicts and debates, including the importance of military history in understanding the past
* You will engage in debates surrounding events and issues in the First and Second World Wars, the Cold War, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Middle East conflict, Northern Ireland, post-Cold War conflict, and the post-9/11 security paradigm
* You will gain an informed understanding of the complex and volatile nature of contemporary international security and the historical roots of current crises
* Taught by internationally-recognised specialists in conflict studies, international relations and military history
* The general programme you will follow is: Research Methods module (30 credits), Independent Study (60 credits), three subject modules (30 credits each) to give a total of 180 credits
