  • Objectives Students learn to adopt critical insights and develop the ability to recognise and handle multiple perspectives upon a situation - the intellectual 'higher order' skills increasingly recognised as essential for effective people management at a more senior, strategic level.
  • Entry requirements A good UK Honours degree or overseas equivalent, or an equivalent professional qualification. Fast-track applicants must also demonstrate successful recent academic achievement in HRM study, such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel anagement or a Masters level qualification in which the study of HRM was a major component.

  • Course description Programme

    As well as providing continual personal development opportunities for existing UK and international HR practitioners, the programme is designed to accommodate non-HR managers and professionals actively engaged in the strategic management of people in the UK and overseas. Following an induction module, students complete a number of core and optional modules, plus a dissertation. Core modules are HRM: the Theory and Practice of Managing People, Employment Relations: Themes and Issues and HRM Research Methods, Assumptions, and Paradigms.

    Full-track students study all three core modules. Fast-track students study HRM Research Methods, Assumptions and Paradigms. Typical optional modules may include:

    -Strategic Human Resource Management
    -The Management of Organisational Change
    -Human Resource Development and Management Development
    -International and Comparative Human Resource Management
    -Developing Strategic Leadership
    -Employment Law.

    Full-track students study four optional modules over the two years and fast-track students study one optional module. All students undertake a dissertation under the supervision of a member of the HRM team.
