    Overview

A new MA is offered in the History of Political Discourse 1500-1800.

Course Poster for downloading (please note - the poster image is very large - over 500KB) and may not be suitable for slower internet connections.

This course is offered in partnership with UEA (School of History) and uses the latest technology to bring together academic staff and post-graduate students from two leading history departments. Core seminars will be conducted using Access Grid (advanced video-conferencing), while a web-based Virtual Research Environment will provide and hub for access to resources, student-led discussion and communication. These technical innovations have the potential to give students a richer and more stimulating experience: colleagues at partner sites, richer and more stimulating discussions and access to a broader range of faculty expertise.

    Programme Structure
The compulsory, jointly-taught elements of the course are:

-The Foundations of Early Modern Political Discourse [semester 1]
-Authority and Ideology in Seventeenth Century Britain [semester 2]
-A dissertation. Students will be able to choose a supervisor for their dissertation from either UEA or Hull, depending on subject area and expertise.

In addition, there will be five compulsory jointly-taught seminars about the historiography of political discourse, held in the first semester. These form part of the delivery of the existing 'Historiography' units offered at Hull in the MA in Historical Studies.

Students will be able to take other options available through standard teaching patterns at the site at which they are enrolled.
