  • Objectives This course offers health and social care professionals the opportunity to research and develop approaches to learning, teaching, assessment and curriculum development in health and social care. You can choose one of two two pathways, one with a focus for working in a traditional educational setting (Education) and the other for practitioners supporting education in practice settings (Practice). Successful completion of the postgraduate diploma gives students a recordable teaching qualification with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (if on NMC register).
  • Entry requirements Applicants should hold a first degree and normally current registration with a relevant professional body. They should have a minimum of 3 years practice experience and current practice as a senior member of staff, involved with learning and teaching activities for a minimum of 10 hours per week.

    Units of study for the Post Graduate Diploma

    of these units you may either exit with a PG Diploma or
    proceed to the final part of the course.

    Education.

    Academic Leadership (for students based in higher
    education) OR Leading and Managing Education in Practice
    (for students working in Health and Social Care Practice)

    Professional Development Portfolio 2

    Units of study for the MA

    Additional option unit: Developing Education
    Practice in Nursing and Midwifery.

    On successful completion of the above units, you must
    then complete a dissertation to receive the award of MA
    Health and Social Care Education/ MA Health and Social
    Care Practice Education.
