MA Translation Studies

  • Objectives To acquaint graduates in modern languages with the history and main current theories of translation To give you the knowledge and ability to use some of the standard strategies, procedures and techniques of translators To develop your ability to translate from at least one foreign language (Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish) into English or vice versa. To provide opportunities for interdisciplinary study To enhance interpretive and analytical skills To provide focused training and preparation for research
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as languages, linguistics and literature. Students need to have an excellent knowledge of English and one other language. If your first language is not English, you will need IELTS 7.0 with 6.0 in each component. 2 academic references will also be required.
