The programme has been designed to facilitate the professional
development of individual practitioners through their progression to that
of a practitioner researcher. To facilitate this, the programme consists of
2 modules, the fi rst of which is designed to bridge the gap in candidates’
    in-depth knowledge of research methodology.

    Programme Modules

    Research Design & Methodology : 20
    M Level Credits : 1 Semester
duration - This module aims to prepare the candidate to conduct an
ethical, reliable and valid independent research enquiry that is consistent
with their professional experience and psychotherapy research interest.
The focus is upon quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches,
research integrity, design and ethics protocol.

This module is a prerequisite before commencing the research activity
and has a summative assessment in the form of a research proposal to
be submitted towards the end of semester one.

    Independent Research & Dissertation : 60 M Level Credits :
Minimum of 2 semesters to a maximum of 6 semesters (3 years)
duration - This module constitutes a self-directed study and independent
research programme where candidates consolidate and synthesise their

and research enquiry. Following a learning agreement between the tutor
and candidate, this module constitutes the implementation of a research
project from the recruitment phase to completion of the enquiry followed
by analysis of the research outcomes. The dissertation is the presentation
