    This EPSRC-supported programme is taught jointly by the departments of Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science. We cover definitions, properties, potential and restrictions of neural information processing systems and algorithms and the mathematical techniques required for their analysis and design.

    You can choose from a wide range of modules including: Neural Networks; Advanced Neural Networks; Information Theory in Neural Networks; Statistical Mechanics of Neural Networks; Algorithms and Computation; Computational Learning Theory; Artificial Intelligence; Cryptography and Information Security; Communications Theory; Digital Signal Processing.

    You must also complete a project in a relevant area after passing the written examinations. This can be carried out and supervised in the department or in appropriate academic or industrial institutions outside the College.

    Programme format and assessment

    Written examinations in eight lecture modules, plus an oral presentation and assessed report on the research project.

    One year FT, two years PT, September to September.
