    Our programme has been designed in response to the growing interest and demand in a broad range of commercial sectors for engineers proficient in signal processing aspects of communication technologies. We aim to reflect the current requirements and anticipate the future needs of the ITC sector and specifically, the fast growing area of wireless communications.

    The core courses for this programme are: Fundamentals of Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Real-time DSP, Statistical signal processing, Mobile and Personal Communications, Communication Theory, and Digital Communications. Students take two additional optional courses from the following: Adaptive and array signal processing, Wavelets and transforms in DSP, Introduction to Communication networks, and Compression methods for Multimedia.

    A major part of the curriculum is a substantial individual project. The project is undertaken during the summer, possibly in collaboration with academics from other departments and/or industrial partners. Texas Instruments are also supporting the course through provision of DSP equipment and software.

    Programme format and assessment
    Teaching methods: lectures; tutorials, seminars. Assessment: coursework, written examinations, final project report. More information about our modules can be found online.
