  • Objectives This programme is designed to prepare students for a professional career in mechanical engineering by providing a broad education which encompasses the methodologies and practices of engineering appropriate to the needs of industry.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements 300 UCAS points. This must include mathematics and preferably a science/technology subject at A-level, or National Diploma in engineering at DDM, including mathematics, or equivalent qualifications; 3 GCSEs at grade C or above (including English, mathematics and science) or equivalent

  • Course description The programme is structured so as to develop a sound understanding of the nature of engineering systems, and of typical operational problems which commonly face the practitioner engineer. A fresh approach is offered in the development of methodologies and systems design that may be applied to new or existing engineering systems.

    In the first three years, students develop a wide range of skills that encompass the principles, techniques and practices of mechanical engineering as well as multidisciplinary skills in mechatronics and computing and a range of professional skills.

    In the final year, students develop a degree of specialism through the selection of options and choice of project.
